Define specific goals
Do you find that when you go online, you waste time looking at things such as digg.com or delicious and as a result, you get no work done? It happens to me all the time. That’s why I’ve started to write down specific goals.
Now, before going onto the internet, I define specific goals about what I want to do when online. Then any time left after I’ve completed my goals, I can use to look at sites such as digg.com.
For example, before turning on the computer today, I wrote down 3 goals. Write a post for aaronfalloon.com (this post), post 5 comments on different blogs, and reply to 5 forum posts (don’t worry, I don’t spam).
By writing down specific goals, I actually get something done.
This method really works for me and hopefully, it can also help you to stop procrastinating. There’s nothing worse than going on the internet and wasting about two hours doing nothing. Don’t waste time looking at information which is going to get you nowhere. Take this to the extreme by following the low-information diet suggested by Tim Ferriss in the 4-hour work week. You might just find that you’ll get lots more done online.
Stop procrastinating today, write your goals down and complete them before looking at other stuff.
